Everyone has the power to enhance their decision-making and impact using behavioural science. I want to help you achieve that.

My goal is to drive impactful behavioural changes. I believe that when we apply theory and evidence in a systematic way, we can create sustainable solutions because when we transform guesswork into precision, we turn goals into achievements.

Hi, I'm Janina

I’m passionate about helping people enhance their decision-making and impact through behavioural science. My work mainly involves providing behavioural science support on consultancy projects across public and private sectors, currently on a freelance basis. This includes systematically analysing challenges to identify desired behaviours, understanding the barriers hindering the target group from performing these behaviours and developing contextual solutions that meaningfully overcome these barriers. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time outdoors and being active, particularly hiking, tennis and walking my dog.

Biography

International background

English, German and Finnish, I was born in northern Switzerland and raised in a multi-lingual home. Experiencing these different cultures fostered a keen interest in languages and behaviour, as well as a strong capability to empathise with people from diverse backgrounds. I have been fortunate enough to live or travel across multiple countries, including Germany, South America and Norway.

My curiosity about human behaviour and decision-making drew me to study B.Sc. Economics at the University of Nottingham which ranked 2nd globally in the field cognitive and behavioural economics. I have a M.Sc. Behaviour Change from University College London, which draws on the world-renowned expertise of the UCL Centre for Behaviour Change.

Highlights in my career

  • Conducting end-to-end consultancy projects, producing playbooks, prototypes, and strategies.

  • Working with clients across diverse sectors and applying behavioural science to a wide range of challenges.

  • Most of all I have enjoyed working within creative, communicative, quality-driven and teamwork-oriented teams. It’s incredibly fulfilling to work together to make a positive impact through the application of academic insights and methods and I consider the opportunity to work with people like them to be one of the highlights of my work.

APPLIED BEHAVIOURAL SCIENTIST PROFILE

Hi, I'm Janina

I have long been curious about human behaviour.

Following my curiosity about behavioural economics at the time led me to the University of Nottingham for its fascinating research into the field. As the lead editor at the Green Economy Society's Sustainable Business Review, I started connecting dots between academia and practical applications. This led me to establish the UoN Behavioural Insights Society, — the University's first student-led initiative aimed at exploring behavioural science and its real-world impact. During a corporate placement, I had the opportunity to integrate behavioural science into digital programs and safety initiatives, engaging with behavioural scientists on initiatives.

Following my undergraduate degree, I pursued the MSc Behaviour Change at UCL. This program centred around the systematic application of behaviour change theories and methods to design, implement, and evaluate interventions. Here, I organised seminars through UCL's Behavioural Innovations Society, investigating the intersection of behavioural science with various fields, to foster sustainable change in the UCL community and beyond.

Now, as a freelance behavioural scientist, I’m engaged in projects that span multiple sectors. Projects range from simplifying processes and enhancing wellbeing initiatives at a FMCG to driving intellectual property registration with a government entity and boosting cybersecurity measures at a multinational corporation.

My goal is to translate behavioural insights into effective, practical strategies that make a real difference.

Highlights in my career

  • Working with clients across diverse sectors and applying behavioural science to a wide range of challenges. I enjoy how intellectually stretching this environment is but most of all I enjoy working within creative, communicative, quality-driven and teamwork-oriented teams. It’s incredibly fulfilling to work together to make a positive impact through the application of academic insights and methods and I consider the opportunity to work with people like them to be one of the greatest joys of my work.
